Privacy Policy

Effective: October 24, 2026 · Applies to the EveryDayBook app for iPhone, available on the App Store in Canada and the United States, and to the everydaybook.app website

The short version
  • EveryDayBook doesn’t collect your data. There’s no account, no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising, no tracking and no AI service in the app. In Apple’s App Privacy terms, the app is “Data Not Collected”.
  • Your book is stored only on your iPhone and in the private iCloud database of your own Apple Account. Nothing is sent to us or to any third party, and we can’t read it.
  • Most of what you write (entries, names and notes) is end-to-end encrypted in iCloud. The rest of your book is protected by Apple’s standard iCloud security (details below).
  • Health readings stay on your iPhone. They’re never put in iCloud and never shared.
  • The only personal information we receive is what you choose to email us.

1. Who we are

EveryDayBook is made by 2107385 Alberta Ltd. (“we”, “us”), a company based in Grande Prairie, Alberta, Canada. Contact us about privacy at hello@everydaybook.app or by mail at 10008-103 Ave, PMB 6080, Grande Prairie, AB T8V 1B8, Canada.

Privacy contact: hello@everydaybook.app

2. What the app stores, and where

Everything you put in your book (day pages, notes, tasks, lists, calendar notes, money records, documents and photos, things, ideas, meetings, family, goals, garage and certificates) is stored in two places, both controlled by you:

  • On your iPhone, in the app’s own storage.
  • In your own iCloud account, if you’re signed into iCloud. Your book syncs through Apple’s CloudKit service, in the private database of your Apple Account. Only you, signed into your Apple Account, can read that database. We, as the developer, have no access to it.

If iCloud is off, your book stays on your iPhone only.

How your book is protected in iCloud

  • Your writing is end-to-end encrypted. Most of the text you write — entries, names and notes — is stored in CloudKit’s end-to-end encrypted fields. Only your devices, signed into your Apple Account, hold the keys. Apple can’t read it, and neither can we.
  • Everything else is protected by Apple’s standard iCloud security. Information such as dates, amounts and how your book is organised is encrypted in transit and on Apple’s servers, with the keys held by Apple, as with most iCloud data.
  • Documents and photos you add are kept in the app’s folder in your iCloud Drive, with Apple’s standard iCloud protection. They’re end-to-end encrypted only if you turn on Apple’s Advanced Data Protection for your Apple Account.

iCloud is provided by Apple under Apple’s Privacy Policy and the iCloud terms you agreed to. Apple may store iCloud data on servers outside Canada.

A few app preferences are kept in your iPhone’s standard settings storage.

3. Permissions the app asks for

EveryDayBook only asks for a permission when you use a feature that needs it. You can change any of them at any time in iPhone Settings.

PermissionWhyWhere the data goes
CalendarsTo show what’s booked beside your day and let you add events, using the Apple Calendar on your iPhone.Read and written on your iPhone. Events are synced by whichever calendar account they belong to (for example iCloud), as normal.
Health (read only)To show your steps, active calories and resting calories beside your day. The app never writes to Apple Health. On your iPhone only. Never synced to iCloud and never sent to us or anyone else.
Camera and PhotosIf you choose to add a photo or document to your book.Into your book (your iPhone and your iCloud Drive).

4. Other features that use Apple services

  • Siri and Shortcuts. When you use the “Add to my book” action, Apple handles any speech recognition and the app receives the finished text, which it adds to your book.
  • Report a problem. Tapping Report a problem in the app opens a draft email to hello@everydaybook.app in Apple’s Mail, with the app version, your iPhone model and your iOS version filled in. Nothing is sent unless you press Send yourself, and you can edit or remove anything in the draft first.
  • Export and import. Exports are created on your iPhone as plain-text Markdown files. They only go where you choose to save or share them. Imports are read on your iPhone.

5. What we do not collect

The app contains no accounts, no analytics, no crash-reporting service, no advertising and no AI services, and sends nothing to us or to any third party. It doesn’t track you across other companies’ apps or websites. In Apple’s App Privacy terms, the app is declared as “Data Not Collected”.

If you choose to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone settings, Apple may give us anonymised, aggregated diagnostic information under Apple’s own privacy terms. It doesn’t identify you.

6. Purchases

EveryDayBook Plus is bought and managed through Apple’s App Store. Apple processes the payment; we never receive your name, card number or billing address. The app checks with Apple, on your iPhone, whether you have an active subscription. Apple gives us aggregated sales reports, which don’t identify you personally.

7. Artificial intelligence

EveryDayBook doesn’t send any of your content to an artificial-intelligence service. If that ever changes, we’ll update this policy before it happens and say exactly what is sent, to whom and when. Health readings will never be sent to an AI service.

8. When you contact us

If you email us, we receive your email address, your message and anything you attach (including the app version, iPhone model and iOS version if you use Report a problem). We use it only to reply to you and to fix problems you report. We don’t add you to any mailing list, and we keep support email for 2 years after our last message with you, then delete it (sooner if you ask — see Delete your data). Email sent to hello@everydaybook.app is forwarded by our domain registrar, Namecheap, using its email-forwarding service, to a Gmail inbox provided by Google. Namecheap and Google may process and store email outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be accessible to courts and authorities under local law.

9. This website

everydaybook.app doesn’t use cookies, analytics or advertising. The site is hosted by Vercel Inc., a United States company, so this information may be processed outside Canada. Like any website host, Vercel automatically processes technical information such as your IP address and browser type to deliver pages and protect against abuse, and keeps short-term server logs under its own privacy policy.

10. Children

EveryDayBook is a general productivity app and isn’t directed at children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. If you think a child has emailed us personal information, tell us and we’ll delete it.

11. Security

Your book is protected by your iPhone’s passcode and data protection and by Apple’s iCloud security, and your writing is end-to-end encrypted. For the strongest protection of everything in iCloud, including documents and photos, you can turn on Advanced Data Protection in your Apple Account settings. Because we don’t hold your book, a breach of our systems can’t expose it.

12. Your choices and rights

You’re in control of your book: you can edit or delete anything in it, export all of it at any time, turn off iCloud for the app, revoke any permission in Settings, or delete everything. See Delete your data.

Under Canadian privacy law, including the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), and other laws that may apply where you live, you can ask what personal information we hold about you (in practice, only email you’ve sent us), ask us to correct or delete it, and complain to a privacy regulator, such as the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. Email hello@everydaybook.app and we’ll respond within 30 days.

13. Changes to this policy

If we change how the app handles information, we’ll update this page and its effective date before the change takes effect. If the change is significant, we’ll also say so in the app.
